Jr. High Ministry Internship Position Summary:
The Jr. High Ministry Intern will serve as a part of the Kingsburg Covenant Church Student Ministry Leadership Team by assisting the Director of Student Ministries in planning and leading all Jr. High Programs, and by making personal contacts with students during the week.


Time Commitment:
8 hours/week for one year (August through July—Intern may reapply for next year; hour flexibility can be accommodated at the Church's discretion)

Salary: $300/month

Reports to:  Director of Student Ministries and Sr. Pastor

Education: High School Graduate (at least 18 years of age)

Desired Characteristics, Gifts and Abilities: Teachable; servant attitude; spiritually mature and lives with integrity (an example Jr. Highers can follow); people person; fun-loving; able to connect with and draw out students, a good listener.  All gifts are welcome. Some helpful gifts are shepherding, leadership, encouragement, creative communication, mercy, evangelism.

Specific Responsibilities:
The intern will provide 8 hours a week of servant leadership for the Jr. High ministry as follows (but must remain flexible to the needs of the ministry as determined by the Director):
4 hours Relational Ministry
- Personal contact with students (i.e. meeting students for lunch on campus, taking them out for a "coke" after school, taking students with you to a school game or play, visit sick/hospitalized students).  Some times Director will line up personal contacts and take you along.
- Weekly phone calls/emails/notes/text messages to students inviting them to come to next youth event and reminding them to bring their friends - emphasis on calls (Male intern to call all Jr. High boys on database twice a month; female intern to do the same for all Jr. High girls)
- Make contact with parents for permission to take their students out and keep them informed about upcoming youth events.
- Once or twice a month "play" with SonShine Afterschool students in the afternoon (about an hour at a time) To be set up by Director.
4 hours Program Planning, Assistance, Leadership (help as assigned)
- WNL [6:30-8:00PM] OUTREACH
- Jr. High Sunday Small Group [8:45-9:45AM] GROUNDING
- Attend church service and sit with Jr. High Students MODELING
- Any special Jr. High events including outings, lock-ins, service projects, mission trips, fundraisers and retreats (Director will work out scheduling issues with you)
· Meet with Director of Student Ministries for training, planning, mentoring, assignments.  Give weekly reports on who you are contacting each week.
